Many fans ask me questions on social networks, unfortunately I don’t have the time to answer them all (…and sometimes I don’t feel like being too intimate), but I hope that a few extra answers will make you all happier; here are the 5 I selected.
1: Do you ever feel homesick?
I was born in the north and I moved to Rome when I was 22, but I had already travelled a lot as an alpine skiing athlete; today I am a globe-trotter of a thousand journeys. Of course, sometimes sleeping in my own bed only a few days a month gets a little heavy, I miss my partner who can’t always travel with me, I miss our home and our “normal” rhythms, but looking at the big picture, I have an exciting life and when I think of how lucky I am, it allows me to throw the nostalgia behind me.
2: you always show such great energy: what ambitions do you have?
Actually, my team and I have a great ambition, and that is to place my music amongst the most important electronic pop projects on international level, but we do everything on a day to day basis, without losing touch with reality. The energy you see on stage has always part of me, and since I was a young boy I grew up with a taste for challenge, experiencing it first in sports and later in my musical career; I believe that real ambition is seizing the best of life from its journey and not its goals.
3: why is the bow illuminated?
I didn’t invent it, that’s for sure, but it was surely born out of necessity: discos are often dark and being able to be seen as well as heard is fundamental. From being seen to adding magic to a performance the step was short, and finding the “hook” for a science fiction project was the opportunity of my life.
4: technology brings music within (almost) everyone’s reach, but you are a true musician – does it ease your musical arrangement?
Of course, yes! Technology in music has always attracted musicians and creatives alike, it’s about having large enough views to be able to read within the time in which you live in: being attuned to your time is fundamental, doing it through a Violin is a beautiful challenge.
5: I read the story of the Space Violin on your site: why don’t you put augmented reality projections in your live shows?
Interesting question, and in a certain sense the ancestor of history itself is based on the hypothetical drift of augmented reality. There is already a lot of technology in my shows, and certainly from the outside you can’t see the difference between a great Festival Dj line-up in which I have been included and my own solo concert, something that I hope will happen more and more often as the project takes shape.
