I will begin this short post with a thank you: there are more and more of you reading this blog and today as well I’d like to open a “personal” drawer with the few lines I’m writing you.
When I think of December, the mountains and the snow, my mood instinctively returns to that of the child, turned adolescent, turned teenager, who was preparing for the skiing competition season: with the prior year behind me, the summer training sessions, the doubts about the state of my physical form and the desire to improve.
That said, every year that I return to the Alps for concerts and events, I like to face them with a tad of that sportsmanship spirit: where my childhood dreams of Olympic gold came to an end, but where I have returned many times with my music, found friends, wonderful places and unforgettable moments.
Playing my instrument has also helped me make peace with that sense of disenchantment that has made me strong, stubborn and determined, also in the search for my musical path. This year I will have the opportunity to play in Cortina, Alta Badia, Valle d’Aosta, Trentino, and also in my second home, Ponte di Legno – Tonale, where I grew up and really feel as part of my roots.
These events will be exciting and important for me and the immense fun that we are going to have at 2000 meters will also be thanks to what all those places and people that I will re-encounter represent and mean to me.
